Lee Jung-hyun went silent after his 32-point outburst, missing all 17 of his free throws in the next two games.
Seoul Samsung won 84-80 at home against Daegu Korea Gas Corp. on Dec. 31. The game was highlighted by Lee’s 32 points, including six three-pointers, over Kofi Coburn’s 26 points and 13 rebounds.
Lee has struggled from the field in his last 스포츠토토 two games.
Against Anyang Jungkwanjang on February 2, Lee was held scoreless as he missed all eight of his shots, including two two-pointers and six three-pointers.
It was the 14th time in his KBL career that he failed to score a single point in a game after scoring 30+ points.
Lee’s slump didn’t end there. Against Suwon KT on Thursday, Lee missed all nine of his shots from the field, including four two-pointers and five three-pointers. He did manage to score two points on two free throws to avoid going scoreless for the second straight game.
Lee, who made a three-pointer at the end of the game against Gasworks, has now missed 17 consecutive free throws.
According to the KBL record program, the most consecutive missed free throws is 20.
Lee Jung-hyun missed 20 consecutive free throws in 2012-2013, and Kim Sang-kyu and Song Kyo-chang did the same in 2019-2020.
Missing 17+ consecutive shots is not uncommon.
Last season, Jung Hyo-geun (18) and Han Hee-won (17) had similar streaks. In the 2020-2021 season, Kim Min-gu (18) and Joo Ju-hoon (17) did the same. In the 2019-2020 season, Yang Hee-jong missed 19 consecutive free throws.
However, if Lee can’t shake off his field goal woes against Wonju DB on July 7 after two days of rest, he could become the all-time record holder. Of course, he is already tied for first place, but he should avoid becoming the sole leader.
