Men’s national basketball team coach Jun-ho Ahn will meet with Tae-jong Moon’s son Jae-rin Stevenson during his business trip to the United States.
Coach Ahn Jun-ho is scheduled to leave for the United States on the 14th with Vice President of the Korea Basketball Association Jeong Jae-yong and national team coach Seo Dong-cheol to meet with Stevenson, Lee Hyeon-jung, and Yeo Jun-seok.
Lee Hyun-joong currently has a summer league contract with the Portland Trail Blazers of the National Basketball Association (NBA), and Yeo Jun-seok is attending Gonzaga University, a prestigious basketball school in the United States.
Stevenson, the son of Moon Tae-jong, who is also a member of the Korean national team and won a gold medal at the 2014 Incheon Asian Games, is attending the University of Alabama in the United States.
The national coaching staff and Vice President Jeong Jae-yong and their entourage will first travel to Las Vegas, Nevada, USA to watch Lee Hyun-joong’s summer league game, and then head to Gonzaga University in Washington State to meet Yeo Jun-seok.
It has been reported that he will also meet with Stevenson to discuss following in his father’s footsteps and playing for the Korean national team.
Vice Chairman Jeong Jae-yong said before leaving the country, “As a long-term plan for the national team, we are aiming to advance to the finals of the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics and the quarterfinals of the 2032 Brisbane Olympics, Australia.” 커뮤니티 He added, “Through the two evaluation matches against Japan, we have confirmed the potential of our young players. If we can add Lee Hyun-jung, Yeo Jun-seok, and now Stevenson, I believe we will be able to build a ‘golden generation’ for the national team.”
However, it seems that there is greater meaning in meeting and talking in person rather than deciding right away whether Stevenson will join the national team during this trip to the United States.
Stevenson is about 208cm tall, Lee Hyun-joong is 201cm tall, and Yeo Jun-seok is about 203cm tall. They are all forwards with speed and outside ability.
Lee Hyun-joong and Yeo Jun-seok already have experience playing for the senior national team, and Stevenson will be able to wear the Taegeuk mark only after his nationality issue is resolved.
