Standard Chartered (SC) Bank Korea CEO Park Jong-bok will retire Jan. 7 next year, concluding a 10-year term as the CEO of both the bank and its holding group, SC Financial Group, the lender said Tuesday.
He had his term renewed four times since 2015, underpinned by the full trust of employees in his exceptional leadership and performance.
A graduate of Kyung Hee University, Park began his career at Korea First Bank, a local lender known as Cheil Bank in Korean that was later acquired by Standard Chartered in 2005. His two decades of experience span both retail banking and private banking.
SC Korea turned a profit within a year of his inauguration in 2015, propelled by enhanced group-wide structural efficiency.
He also fostered a corporate culture of a stronger focus during work hours to enhance financial productivity, as best exemplified by 스포츠 the “New Bank New Start” campaign. This initiative continues to serve as a reference point for the firm’s success.
His foresight is illustrated in the rapid and agile adjustments to IT technology development, defined by the close integration of forward-looking banking practices with cutting-edge smart workflows.
Also to his credit is the seamless integration of the two banks, a feat that laid the groundwork for SC Group’s investment in the internet-only Toss Bank.
