‘Youth Basketball Instructor Goes International’ Namgun Kim of Namyangju NSBC Wins 3rd Place in International Competition with Black Label

Nam Gun Kim of Namyangju NBSC represented Korea at the Target Asia 3×3 tournament in China, finishing in third place.

Nam Gun Kim of Namyangju NSBC (Namyangju KCC Aegis Junior) competed for Black Label at the Target Asia 3×3 tournament in Dali City, China. He teamed up with Seok Jong-tae, Baek Min-kyu, and Lee Hyun-seung to finish in third place.

Representing Korea in the 16-team tournament, Black Label started off strong in the qualifiers. After defeating both Thailand and China in the first and second rounds of qualifying, 메이저사이트 BlackLabel swept through the qualifiers with a three-game sweep of Singapore,

After a lucky break in the round of 16 when an opponent forfeited, Black Label was just two wins away from the title with a 21-15 win over Chinese Taipei in the quarterfinals.

But then came the crisis. Playing on their home turf, China’s momentum was too much for BlackRabbit to handle and they fell short in a close match, 17-20.

After swallowing their disappointment, BLACKLABEL fought hard for Yoo Jong-mi in the third and fourth place matches. After a seesaw game with Singapore, the Korean team managed to pull out a 21-19 victory to claim third place.

Although Black Label lost on the threshold of advancing to the finals, they were the only team in the tournament to compete as a single team, as all other national teams in the tournament had recruited foreign players.

In particular, Coach Kim Nam-gun contributed to the team’s victory by unleashing a fiery offense with his highly sensitive shooting throughout the tournament. With his experience as a basketball player at Sungkyunkwan University and past top honors at the national championships, he showed his competitive skills on the international stage.

Coach Kim Nam-gun said, “We suffered from long flight times and bad food. Other overseas teams had a lot of mercenaries, so we were a bit embarrassed at first, but we are satisfied and proud that we performed better than expected with our strengths of outside shooting and tight defense. I hope that such tournaments will become more popular not only for adults, but also for our youth teams.”

The performance of Coach Kim Nam-gun, who is now living a second life as a youth basketball instructor, shows that his passion for the game is ripe.
