Fermín López (21, Barcelona) thrilled the fans.
The Spanish Olympic Team defeated the Moroccan Olympic Team 2-1 in the soccer semifinals of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games at the Stade Velodrome in Marseille, France, at 1 a.m. ET on Saturday.
Spain advances to the final, where they will face host France for the gold medal.
Spain and Morocco played an evenly matched match. They’re was slightly ahead with 56% possession, but the shots on goal were equalized at 14-14. However, there was a significant difference in shots on goal, 5-1.

Spain’s ‘ace’ was Fermin Lopez. Fermín, who has been anchoring the team’s attack from the center of the attacking second line since the group stage, had another perfect game, playing 89 minutes with one goal, one assist, four shots, 95% passing success rate (20/21), and two chances created.
Fermín joined Barcelona’s youth team in 2016, and in 2022 he was loaned out to Linares Deportivo to gain experience before being called up to the first team in 2023.
He scored a powerful left-footed mid-range strike in a preseason friendly against Real Madrid in Texas, USA, 안전놀이터 last July and has since established himself as a regular in the squad, scoring 11 goals in 43 appearances in all competitions, including 31 league games, in the 2023-2024 season.
Fermin was on full display not only in this match, but also in the quarterfinal against Japan three days ago. In 84 minutes of action, he scored two goals, won five dribbles, and played four balls into the final third, single-handedly shaking up the Japanese defense. Spain went on to defeat Japan 3-0.
Barcelona has a lot to be happy about this summer. The European Football Confederation (UEFA) Euro 2024, which preceded the Olympics, saw the best performances of another Barcelona prospect, Ramin Yamal.
Fermín’s performance led fans to say, “Andrés Iniesta at the Olympics!” as he was followed by Yamal.
