‘Can we get a real signing this time’

Even before the summer transfer window opened, Tottenham Hotspur’s top priority was a ‘frontline striker’. Manager Enze Postecoglou wanted to find a striker who would be able to fill the spot that Son Heung-min, 32, had temporarily filled last season. Tottenham were receptive.

However, the signing hasn’t happened until now, with the transfer window almost closed and the start of the new season just around the corner. So far, Tottenham have only signed a couple of promising players, including Archie Gray and Yang Min-Hyuk. Adding Lucas Verbal, who arrived in January, and extending Timo Werner’s loan is all they’ve done in the transfer market.

As a result, there was a lot of concern that Son Heung-min would still be the frontline striker in the upcoming 2024-2025 season. The pressure on Son was only going to increase. If the transfer window were to close, it would be difficult to find an alternative. The expectations for him were close to zero.

But then a new hope arose.

Reports have emerged that Tottenham are very close to signing a striker who has been in the news a lot lately. Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke, 27, is the man in question. Tottenham are reportedly close to signing Solanke.

The Telegraph reported on June 6 (ET) that Tottenham are close to signing Solanke. Solanke, who is currently at the top of Spurs’ list of striker targets, 파워볼실시간 could become the club’s new No. 9,” according to the report.

Solanke was a standout performer for Bournemouth last season after spells at Liverpool and Chelsea. He helped Bournemouth avoid relegation as they struggled in the bottom half of the table. Solanke scored six goals and provided seven assists in the 2022-2023 season, and last season he scored a whopping 19 goals (three assists) in all competitions. He finished tied for fourth in the league scoring charts. Clearly, he’s better than Son Heung-min (17 goals) in terms of goals scored alone.

If Tottenham were to bring Solanke in, it would allow them to reorganize their offense.

With Son back in his natural position on the left flank, he can avoid the opposition and play with the speed and creativity he’s known for. Werner and Michy Batshuayi could be used as backups, depending on the situation.

In the end, the key is Tottenham’s financial strength. Clearly, Postecoglou is desperate to sign Solanke. If chairman Daniel Levy opens his wallet, he can fulfill this wish. Solanke has a £65 million ($113.8 million) buyout clause with Bournemouth. Tottenham can sign him if they meet this condition.

However, Levy is notoriously reluctant to open his wallet. So they could sell him to a Saudi club first, and then use the money to fulfill Solanke’s buyout clause. It’s a two-step process, so Spurs would have to be more aggressive in their negotiations. It will be interesting to see if Tottenham can complete the Solanke-Son Heung-min-left wing squad.
