Amateur ‘Kookmin forward’ Moon Jung-hyun selected by Suwon KT with the No. 1 overall pick

Professional basketball team Suwon KT has selected national team forward Moon Jung-hyun (Korea University – 194.2 cm).

KT head coach Song Young-jin selected Moon with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 KBL Rookie Draft, 현금홀덤사이트 held at Jamsil Student Gymnasium in Seoul on Nov. 21.

Moon, a senior at Korea University, was the only amateur player selected to the Korean National Team for the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games. He led KU to the Korea University Sports Federation (KUSF) College Basketball U-League title last year and was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player (MVP), and his ball-handling and game management skills have made him a strong No. 1 pick this year. KT, which had the No. 1 pick for the first time in five years, immediately selected Moon, making it the third consecutive year they have selected a KU player, following center Ha Yoon-ki in 2021 and center Lee Doo-won in 2022. “I will only enjoy this happiness until today, and I will enjoy (greater) happiness by winning the championship with KT after the season,” Moon said.

With the second pick, the Ulsan Hyundai Mobis selected KU guard Park Mubin (184.4 cm). The KU captain is an offensive guard who was recently named MVP of the KUSF U-League Finals after scoring 17 points, adding eight assists and seven rebounds.

With the third pick, Changwon LG selected Yonsei guard Yoo Yoo-sang (188.0 cm), who is considered one of the best shooters in college. He is considered to be an instant powerhouse and is considered to be a big-time shooter. As expected, Moon Jung-hyun, Park Mubin, and Yoo Yoo-sang, who were considered the “big three” of the draft, were all selected in the top three overall.

With the fourth pick, Seoul Samsung selected Cerritos College sophomore Jo Jun-hee (187.2 cm), who entered the draft as an undrafted free agent, while Daegu KOGAS selected Korea University sophomore forward and center Shin Ju-young (199.4 cm).

Sixth-ranked Busan KCC selected Chung-Ang University guard Lee Ju-young (181.4 cm), and seventh-ranked Wonju DB selected Dongguk University guard Park Seung-jae (178.3 cm). Eighth-ranked Goyang Sono selected Sungkyunkwan University guard Park Jong-ha (184.3 cm), ninth-ranked Seoul SK selected Dankook University sophomore guard Lee Kyung-do (185.1 cm), and 10th-ranked Anyang Jungkwanjang selected Dankook University forward Na Sung-ho (188.7 cm).
