LEE CHAE-WOON, 6TH IN MEN BIG AIR AT THE SNOWBOARD WORLD CUP

Lee Chae-woon (Surigao) finished sixth in the men’s big air at the FIS Snowboard World Cup. Lee, born in 2006, finished sixth in the men’s big air final of the FIS Snowboard World Cup 2023-2024 season at Xiujiang Park in Beijing, China, today with a score of 153.75 points. Lee won the snowboard halfpipe at the FIS Freestyle-Snowboarding World Championships in Georgia in March, becoming the first Korean athlete to win a world championship gold medal. Lee is a medal favorite for the 2024 Winter Youth Olympic Games in Gangwon, South Korea, and her best FIS World Cup result was a fourth-place finish in the halfpipe in February in the United States and Canada.Big Air is an aerial event in which riders perform tricks over one large jump. Forty-three athletes competed in the event, with 10 making it to the finals, which were held three times with the worst two scores subtracted to determine the rankings. Athletes are scored on their aerial moves, distance, and landings. Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games gold medalist Su Yiming (CHN) won the event with 184.50 points, followed by Ryoma Kimata (JPN) in second place with 180.75 points.
