Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Yoo In-chon met with International Olympic Committee (IOC) Vice President Sermien Ng at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Seoul in Jongno-gu, Seoul, on Tuesday morning to discuss ways to continue utilizing the Olympic legacy and develop the Olympic Games. Minister Yoo first expressed his gratitude for the success of the Gangwon 2024 Winter Youth Olympic Games through the efforts of the IOC and others.
Mr. Ng congratulated the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the 2024 Gangwon Organizing Committee, Gangwon Province, and the Games’ staff and volunteers for their enthusiasm and dedication, and was particularly impressed with the festivities that combined sports and culture.
A former Singaporean sailor, Mr. Ng was elected to the IOC in 1998 and has served as Vice-President for the second time since 2020, after serving from 2009 to 2013. In 2018, he was inducted as an honorary director of the Korean National Institute of Taekwondo, where he has a special love and interest in the sport.
