Peddie Returns to MLB, “I got Better as a Sweeper in Korea… It was Unrealistic”
Interview with MLB.com “I will show my growth”
Right-handed pitcher Eric Peddy (30, Chicago White Sox), who returned to the Major League Baseball (MLB) after dominating the domestic professional baseball league, revealed that life in the KBO League played a big role in his growth.
Peddie explained to MLB.com on the 17th (Korean time) in Glendale, Arizona, USA, where the team’s spring camp training was held, that living in Korea last year was a big turning point. 온라인카지노
Peddie said, “When I first went to the KBO League, my goal was to leave a good impression on the new team (NC Dinos).
At first, I had a hectic time in the new environment, but at some point, I was achieving unbelievably good results.
“It was unreal,” he said.
He explained the reason for his growth, saying, “I saw good results by adding a breaking ball and using a total of four pitches in Korea,” and “in particular, the sweeper and changeup have improved compared to when I was in the United States.”
In addition, he added, “Until now, I unconsciously tried to only throw breaking balls that curved to the side, but I changed my grip and increased my velocity, and I was able to see a big effect.”
He added, “The team White Sox watched this process, and I think they evaluated it favorably.”
Peddie said, “Now I know what kind of image I have to show,” and pledged, “I will show you how I’ve grown.”
Peddie, who played for the MLB Washington Nationals from 2017 to 2022, joined NC in 2023 and achieved the best results.
With his main weapon being a sweeper, he went 20-6 with an earned run average of 2.00 and won the regular season Most Valuable Player Award (MVP).
Peddie, who had been pushed out of MLB, re-entered the big league with much higher treatment than in the past.
He signed a two-year contract with the White Sox last winter for a total of $15 million (about 20 billion won).
Local people have high expectations for Peddie, who has grown.
White Sox manager Pedro Gripol said, “Pedi has changed a lot last year. He has improved his control and stamina by playing many innings in Korea, and we expect him to perform well for our team this year.”
Peddie will farewell the NC players on March 2nd.
NC, which set up a spring camp in the United States, decided to hold a practice game with the White Sox at Camelback Ranch in Glendale.
