“It’s special because it’s an adult national team. I’m very honored and grateful to be selected.”
On Wednesday, the Korea Basketball Association named Shin Seung-min (KOGAS) and Moon Yoo-hyun (Korea University) to its roster for the 2025 FIBA Asia Cup Window-2, replacing the injured Lee Jung-hyun (SONO) and Ha Yoon-ki (KT).
Shin has been on fire since making his professional debut and has helped eos파워볼 Daegu KOGAS lead the way this season.
“It feels good to join the national team, which is a dream come true,” Shin said in a phone call on Dec. 12. I want to say thank you to coach Kang Hyuk, the coaching staff, and my older brothers for guiding me to the national team because it helped me in my basketball life.” ”I was selected for the Universiade team, but I had to drop out due to injury. When asked how he found out, Shin said, “I found out this morning (Dec. 12), and it didn’t really hit me until after that, but then I read the article and got a call. After that, I realized it while doing paperwork and medical tests.” He added, “It’s real, and I feel even better that my teammates are happy and congratulating me like I’m their own person. Nicholson reached out to me on social media to congratulate me, and when I was working out with Eun-Doye, they asked me when I was joining the team and congratulated me again,” he said.
Shin has been working hard to play like Ahn, and this time he’ll be playing alongside him on the national team.
“The fact that it’s a national team is a collection of outstanding players in Korea. I’m looking forward to learning a lot from them,” he said, adding, ”I get to play with Ahn Young-joon, who I chose as my role model. I want to learn a lot, emulate him, and make a lot of good plays of my own. I’m looking forward to coming back to the team and showing good things for the team.”
The team will convene for training on the 15th. The team will face Indonesia on the 21st and Australia on the 24th at the Goyang Sono Arena.
“My colors are the same for the team and the national team,” says Shin. “I want to be a source of energy if I play for the national team,” he said, adding, ”Whether it’s visible or invisible, I will do the dirty work behind the outstanding players and find a role that helps the national team, and I will play as hard as I can to represent my country.
