Samsung signs new foreign hitter Cardenas to first team in baseball

Ruben Cardenas, 26, is making his KBO debut for the Samsung Lions.

Samsung added Cardenas to its first-team roster ahead of the team’s game against the Lotte Giants at Samsung Lions Park in Daegu, South Korea, on April 19.

Cardenas was drafted by the Cleveland Indians (now the Guardians) in 2018, but never made it to the big leagues.

Instead, he has shown great power in the minors.

In 75 games at Triple-A this season, he hit 20 home runs.

Samsung has been searching for a new foreign hitter since the All-Star break, when the team decided to release David McKinnon after he failed to show his power.

Cardenas, a right-handed hitting outfielder, is expected to play right field for Samsung.

Instead of promoting Cardenas to the first team, Samsung released right-handed hard-throwing pitcher Kim Yoon-soo, who returned from military service with the Armed Forces Sports Unit (Commerce).

Kim hasn’t lived up to expectations since his return, allowing four runs in 1⅔ innings in two games.

The NC Dinos, meanwhile, chose to resign pitcher Song Myung-ki instead, filling his spot with pitcher Ryu Jin-wook.

The Kiwoom Heroes, who suffered a shocking 8-12 loss to KT WIZ the day before after taking an 8-0 lead, will look to turn things around by demoting outfielder Park Soo-jong and pitcher Moon Sung-hyun to the second team and enrolling outfielder Lee Yong-kyu and pitcher Lee Myung-jong. 파워볼사이트 추천
