Coach Dan Hurley, who led the University of Connecticut to the top of the American college basketball league, has renewed his contract for 6 years for $50 million (approximately 69.2 billion won).
The Associated Press reported on the 9th (Korean time) that Coach Hurley re-signed with the University of Connecticut a month after turning down an offer to be the head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association (NBA).
Hurley, who led Connecticut to its second straight Division I basketball title in May, could earn additional income through performance-based incentives while leading the team through the 2029-2030 season.
The university explained that Coach 한국을 Hurley will receive $6.375 million for next season alone, including bonuses for speaking and consulting, in addition to his base salary of $400,000 per year.
Coach Hurley went 141-58 in six seasons at Connecticut.
The Lakers reportedly offered Hurley six years and $70 million last month.
Coach Hurley admitted that “the offer was tempting,” but said he decided to stay at the university “for the sake of the people who supported me.”
